There have been a series of studies that have shown that slightly overweight people are alright as long as they are fit. That finding has been used by many fat people to justify their weight issues and now they sing praises of their oversized, but fit bodies. Many of them now even make fun of skinny people and have been demanding that airlines provide them bigger seats or restaurants accommodate them by giving them extra food, of course, at no additional charge.
However, a new study now shows that while it is better to be overweight and fit than just overweight, the best option is still to be in the normal BMI range and be fit. Even fit but overweight people still have higher blood pressure (the heart has to work extra hard in fat people to pump all the blood and that results in higher blood pressure) and that means that these individuals are still at a higher risk of cardiovascular complications that almost always result in heart attacks and strokes. So don’t fool yourself; get on a diet and start working out.
