I hope you realize that the rich are different from the poor. Let me give an example. Let us say that you have made some money, enough to occasionally start off with (or whatever designer brand you fancy) Chanel perfume, cosmetics, and accessories to their overpriced quilted handbags. What you will need to realize that to really live the Chanel lifestyle, you still have a long way to go. Unless your net worth runs into tens of millions of dollars, till then, regardless of how many designer labels you sport, you are simply a wannabe, or as LVMH and PPR group executive like to call, aspirational customers. That is why when you do gather the courage to walk into a Chanel boutique, particularly the ones in Paris, and more specifically on Avenue Montaigne, you end up buying something that you probably can’t afford. I mean it is hard for the rest of us to go into a store like this and walk out pretending that you didn’t like anything.
But Reese Witherspoon can. There she is coming out of the Paris Chanel store, dressed up in a very Chanel style, including her Christian Louboutin shoes, with not a shopping bag in her hand. Quite different from how Paris Hilton walks out of a Louis Vuitton store.

Jay, could it be that she shopped so much that her bags are being sent to her hotel by the store? I know these shops will do whatever to treat their celeb customers right.
I agree with you that most of us feel intimidated inside a Chanel boutique and even wonder what are we doing there, and just to overcome some of our insecurities, we end up buying something.
