Why are we obsessed with age?

Jennifer Aniston was on the ‘Rachael Ray Show’ promoting her film ‘Just Go With It,’ and she said something that caught my attention.  “All of a sudden you’re labeled, you’re a number.  It wasn’t like 30-plus or 30 something. It’s just that all of sudden, it’s like, ‘Wow for your age, not so bad.’ It’s like what?  ….All of a sudden they’re making it sound like life is coming very shortly to an end. It’s weird,”  she said referring to her reaching her 40s.

Why should age matter? One thing that you must have noted is that tabloids and magazines invariably include the age of people and it does not matter if they are 22 or 42.  Actually, they keep reminding us about their ages.  Apparently they want you to judge them by their age and not their looks or talent.

It is not age but how you look that matters:     For me, age has been an irrelevant statistic because I know a lot of teens with disgusting bodies that should be kept covered at all times, and I have seen way too many women in their 50s and 60s who should wear mini dresses every day of the week, even if they have cellulite and varicose veins.

So next time when someone wants to put a label on you because you are of a certain age, just tell them to look at themselves in the mirror.
