Within weeks of confirming that Linda Hogan and Charlie Hill were madly in love, I have now learned that they have broken off their four year relationship. I was quite happy to see that this cougar-young man relationship was thriving but it looks like the couple couldn’t agree on the issue of marriage. The couple realized that considering the big age gap and the fact that she is old enough to be his mother, she couldn’t see herself married to him.
This is a common problem when a relationship with enormous age gap becomes serious. In a relationship with a cougar, a guy wants to get married and even have his own kids, which can be a problem if the woman is over forty and will have a hard time getting pregnant. Many cougars are also reluctant to being pregnant so late in their lives at a time when they do not want to deal with diapers and just want to enjoy their middle age.
Similarly, when a young woman dates an older guy she too wonders if she can marry him and have her own children but with the risks of older men fathering children with genetic disorders and men who are simply reluctant to deal with kids and visiting children’s parks when they would like to play golf or go on cruises for grownups, this can be a huge problem.
The message to anyone who is interested in dating someone with an age gap is to understand that unless both of you have the same expectations going forward, the relationship will be short-lived. See, Ashton Kutcher never insisted that Demi Moore give him babies and while they divorced it was because he cheated on her.

There are tasks to achieve in life at different stages. A 23 yr old man with a 50 plus woman is too wide of a range for them to share the same tasks that unite other couples. No doubt a big struggle for Linda Hogan, her age group generally looking at the past while she is trying to re-do hers. Hogan will never be able to get her youth back and being with him is just a hard reminder of it. Linda needs to get self confidence by staying in her own age group, celebrating her own life achievements and knowing that for 50 plus she is a babe.
