For most
people (particularly when they have passed the age when
braces are common), the idea of having a mouth full of
metal brackets and wires from traditional braces drives
them away from getting the straight teeth that they want.
From children to adults, people dread the thought of
needing to have their
beautiful white teeth covered up with a bunch of
metal. For children, this can mean teasing and name
calling from other kids at school. For adults, losing
their professional appearance is not something to look
forward to. If for any of these reasons the idea of braces
sounds scary or you are already a grownup and feel
embarrassed to wear braces, the best option is Invisalign
- clear acrylic aligners that are virtually invisible to
others.

Many cosmetic
dentists like Dr. Sands in
Beverly Hills, California, use Invisalign to provide their patients with the
beautiful straight smile they want. Invisalign clear
braces can correct mild to severe spacing and crowding
problems that many people suffer from. "My patients love
Invisalign clear braces because they can get the straight
smile they want without compromising their beautiful smile
with the metal from traditional braces," says Dr. Sands. |
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign
provides a series of aligners that will gradually shift
teeth so that they are left straight and free of metal.
These aligners are virtually invisible, allowing life to
be continued without the self-consciousness associated
with a smile with metal all over it.
The
process is very simple. After scheduling an initial
consultation with a cosmetic dentist, they will discuss
what results are wanted and if this is the best treatment
option. Then, the cosmetic dentist will make an impression
of the teeth and send it in the Align Technology.

Using
3-dimensional computer imaging and the specific
instructions from
the
cosmetic dentist, a series of aligners will be
made to shift the teeth into position one step at
a time. The aligners are then sent back to the
cosmetic dentist. These aligners are designed to
be worn for a minimum of 20 to 22 hours during the
day. They are also removable so that eating and
brushing can continue as normal. Each Invisalign
aligner functions as a step in the entire process
of providing a straighter smile. Each aligner is
worn for two to three weeks, at which point it is
replaced with the next aligner in the series. The
result is a beautiful, straight smile that didn't
require years of traditional braces.
