Melissa
Gilbert was asked by OK! about the
secret to her
marriage to Bruce Boxleitner. She replied that
they went to
therapy and worked on their marriage.
"Our marriage is an entity unto itself, and we are very
careful with it. We want to stay husband and wife,
not roommates. We work hard at doing that," she
added. (Related:

Why is marriage work?
Sounds so
unromantic; isn't it? We have to accept that the
fact that men and women are different and two
individuals are rarely alike. While compatibility
is important in most relationships, many
couples come together even if they are total opposites.
In all of these cases, a couple must still work out
their differences to be able to get through their lives
with minimal friction.
How can you make marriage fun?
Let us bring
the analogy of a job here. When you enjoy your
job, it is fun. For some people who truly enjoy
what they do, they can't wait to get to work and doing
their best. For those who hate their jobs, going
to work is worse than being in prison. However,
there are others who figure out a way to make even
difficult jobs fun. If it is too stressful to work
in a company, they still find someone to share jokes
with. Others think of their difficult job as a
stepping stone to a better job or a way to gain
experience or learn a new skill. If you keep
whining, work will seem even tougher than it really is.

So take the
same logic for your marriage. Understand that it
is not an easy job but if you make the best of it, very
soon it will become a lot of fun. As Melissa
Gilbert says, that despite all the hard
work they put into their marriage, they have fun any
way they can - even if it is
going to the movies.
