How to make interracial relationships successful?

A woman from Puerto Rico, has posed a question to us, "Could you please help me. My boyfriend is American and I want to learn all about the culture, cooking, fashion, and relationship. Please give me the information. It will be the best help I need. I love him and I know that it will be hard for us at the beginning but I am going to do my best for our happiness. I think that we are not different but we complement each other."

We admire the commitment that this Latina has to making her relationship succeed and the willingness on her part to learn anything that would make her lover happy. This gentleman is definitely a lucky person and we wish both of them a lot of luck. Interracial relationships are always hard and if language is a barrier, they can be even harder since communication that is so critical in such relationships gets even harder.

There are a lot of misconceptions about American men. While Latin women have been universally described as bombshells, American men have been criticized and ridiculed for lacking passion. That is not necessarily true. In fact American men can be extremely demanding in bed and many of them are known to ask for all kinds of wild stuff.

And finally, keep your mind open.  Stereotypes help no one.  So whatever you might have seen in Hollywood movies or heard from friends and family members, keep it in your mind but do not use that knowledge to judge your boyfriend.
