If you
want to
be classy, it is not a bad idea to learn a little bit
about wine. If you do not drink wine, you still need
to know the basics so that you can serve it to your guests
when you
entertain at home or
buy it as a gift for friends and family members.
In any case, wine drinking has many health benefits so you
might want to explore your options after consulting with
your physician.
How to store wine? While
wine cellars are ideal for storing wine, not everyone
needs to have them. They are expensive to build and
make no sense for a casual drinker. If you
occasionally drink wine at home, think about storing it in
a room with not a lot of light at around 55 degrees F.
And do you know why wine bottles are stored on their
sides? That way the cork stays moisturized and the
bottle will open easily. (Related:

What is the right temperature
at which to serve the wine? Each wine
has
its
own optimum temperature. Red wines are
typically served at room temperature while white
wines are served chilled. If you don't know
what temperature is right and if you buy it at a
good store (where the employees know what they are
doing), just ask when buying the wine.
How to serve wine? Of
course, wine should always be served in
wine glasses. There is a reason why wine
glasses have their unique shape. The less
contact the body has with actual wine, the better
it is for it so that it will retain its flavors
longer. To open the bottle, use a
corkscrew and there is no reason to make a lot
of noise when the cork opens (some consider it as
detrimental to the quality of wine). Just
let the air out slowly. |
