Frequently
Asked Questions |
1. How can I download Adobe Reader?
Adobe Reader, the software formerly known as Adobe Acrobat Reader, is used for viewing files in the Portable Document Format, or P.D.F. It can be downloaded free at
the Adobe
website. Look for the icon that says "Get Adobe
Reader". There are versions of Adobe Reader for many operating systems, including Windows, Macintosh, Linux, Palm, PocketPC and systems found on technical workstations; simply select the correct version for your computer.
The download page has a link to a page that lists the system requirements for each type of computer, so you can determine whether your machine can run the software. The latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows runs on Windows 98 SE or later and needs 60 megabytes of available hard drive space.
The download consists of the program's installer files - that is, software that places Adobe Reader's components in the proper places within your operating system files. It might be easiest to download the file onto your desktop or into a folder where you keep temporary items so you can locate it quickly and run the installer program.
Open the installer file to start the process that will put a copy of Adobe Reader on your system. Once you have finished the procedure (which usually includes restarting your computer), Adobe Reader should open anytime you double-click on a file in the P.D.F. format or on a link to a P.D.F. document on a Web page.
2. How can I save my e-book on my computer?
The process varies by email provider/software
but is generally very simple. In some cases, you will have
a link that clearly points to a download. In other cases,
by clicking the right mouse button, you can save it on your
computer. Till you are sure that you have the file on your
computer, do not delete the email (that included the e-book)
from your inbox.
3. I can not receive the email or can
not open the e-book?
If you continue to have problems with a
particular email address, please write to us with a different
email address and we will try to resend your e-book. The
only reason you may not be able to open the e-book is that your
computer does not have Adobe Reader installed (see question 1
above).
4. How can I send the e-book to my
friends and family members?
You should not try to do this - it is a
violation of our agreement with you when you purchased the
book. Instead you should encourage them to buy their
personal copy. You can however email it to a different
address, copy it on a disk, or print it for your personal use.
5. How should I read the e-book?
When the e-book is open, you must go to the
"View" menu and choose "Full Screen"
option. Then you should be able to read the book at the
highest possible resolution and by pressing the Pg Up and Pg Dn
keys you will be able to navigate the book. To close the
book or to switch to other programs, simply press the Esc key.
6. How can I print the e-book?
We do not recommend printing the book since it
is much nicer to read it on your screen. However, in some
cases, you will want to print it. Simply click on the
printer icon in Adobe Reader or alternatively, go
"File" menu and choose "Print" and then
"OK".
