How it started?
When
I returned from Japan in 1997 after spending five years,
including education at International University of Japan and a
job at Sealed Air Japan, I missed Japan so much and wanted to
keep my Japan connection alive. At that time, I made a
simple page on AOL to stay in touch with other Japanophiles.
Around this time, the worldwide web was taking off and in 1999,
I registered this domain, hoping to bring together people like
me. From 1999-2004, I worked as a management consultant
for Kline & Company and CRA International. Considering how
busy I was helping Fortune 500 companies tackle their strategic
challenges, I could only devote a few hours during the weekend
to my hobby. That is how it was until 2004 when
eCreativa,
an online interactive media enterprise, based in Milford, MA
(USA) - a Boston suburb, decided to own and run this highly
popular website with over a quarter million visitors each month.
I now work full time, as a Vice President, on creating content
for my readers, marketing the website, and helping all my
readers with any questions that they have.
As I said above,
my initial focus was just Japan but as the traffic grew,
MyNippon fans started demanding content on a variety of topics
and that is when I decided to expand the focus from not just
Japan to all lifestyle topics. That is why I have
consolidated the Japan content in one blog called
Aimono (things that
I love) that Lorena and I manage together. And as you will
see on this page, there are several other channels.
About me
I am Jay Dwivedi
with no formal education in web technologies, though I have
degrees in chemical engineering and technology management.
I also received an MBA from Kokusai Daigaku in Niigata, Japan.
I have not only taught myself web technologies but also refined
my writing skills over time. Now I belong to that rare
breed of bloggers who actually make a living online. I
know you might be imagining me working in my boxers, but the
reality is that while I work from my home (and occasionally
elsewhere considering I need just a laptop to work), I follow a
daily schedule, like any other corporate executive. I do
have a lot of freedom in when I work, it still makes sense to
have a schedule and work towards a reasonable balance in work
and life. No, I am not addicted to the Internet, and do
not waste my time on Facebook or Twitter promoting my websites.
My readers do the job for me.
I love to hear
from you and encourage you to
write to me
here. I promise a response. With almost 400,000
visitors each month, I get a lot of emails, but I try to write
back to everyone.
My hobbies are
travel and movies. I live in a secluded, wooded area of
Massachusetts with my wife Lorena, who has founded one of the
largest websites for Latinas.
