Anti-aging
neck and décolleté treatments
Women
should not ignore this area and get too focused on the face
By Ruth B. Schierenbeck
We
have been discussing why it is important to take care of the
neck and décolleté regions for women. We have
already discussed the reasons for
this treatment and how you can extend the facial treatments
to this region and then a few product applications in spa
treatments. Now we discuss the process for taking care
of the neck and the décolleté.
Treatment techniques and product applications are designed to emphasize stimulation of the blood flow, re-enforcement of the skin’s natural protective function, hydration and extra protection of the skin’s natural lipid barrier with a lipid-based moisturizer. This treatment is designed to beautify aging skin leaving it velvety and younger looking.
Sep-by-step
-
Cleanse the neck and décolleté area with a hydrophilic cleansing oil using gentle massaging movements incorporating the client’s shoulders. Remove the cleanser with warm towel and press it gently onto the skin. For a more invigorating effect use a few drops of a stimulating and regenerative essential oil such as rosemary, thyme or lavender in the water of the towel.
-
Refresh the skin with an alcohol-free toner on moist cotton pads.
-
For the exfoliation process, choose an enzyme peeling or a gentle
exfoliation scrub. Follow the directions given by the manufacturer. Remove any excess with a warm towel or water.
-
Apply an anti-age product with tapping movements on the neck and décolleté.
-
Now proceed with a relaxing massage on neck and décolleté. It is preferable to use vitamin massage oil with anti-oxidant properties from vitamin A and E or a nourishing massages cream with anti-aging ingredients such or Retinol, Beech extract or vitamin C.
Here are a few
relaxation massage steps for you to incorporate into your current massage technique.
-
Circle the shoulders with the palms of your hands, slide to the trapezes muscle and massage it. Then continue to the back of the skull and pull gently.
-
Trace your hands around the shoulders and massage gently.
-
Repeat no. 1
-
Do not wash the massage cream!
To conclude this treatment, apply a small amount of a light textured moisturizer designed for the delicate skin on neck and décolleté. Such a moisturizer should offer skin firming and anti-oxidants properties.
Home care advice from a spa: Incorporate on a regular basis a gentle cleanser and an exfoliation scrub, which easily can be used in the shower to remove dehydrated skin cells. Recommend twice a day application of a specific neck and décolleté moisturizer applying it with gentle upward movements to ensure long-lasting youthful looking skin.
Also let your client know, that good posture and alternating cold/hot showers will help strengthen the connective tissue contributing to a beautiful neck and bust line.
