The 3-hour diet
Eat small meals frequently, lose weight, and be healthy
|
|
|
If the
idea of eating before you are hungry (so that you never
starve and then pig out or indulge in
binge eating), that means several times a day,
sounds appealing to you, then you will love the concept
of mini-meals developed by Jorge Cruise in several books
based on this philosophy. This
is how the plan works and you will see the rationale
behind the name 3-hour. Everyone agrees that you
should
sleep
at least 8 hours to stay in good health. That
means you have 16 hours during which you are awake and
able to eat. So for a person, who goes to
sleep at 10 PM and wakes up at 6 AM, she should eat
at 7 AM, 10 AM, 1 PM, 4 PM, and the final meal at 7 PM.
It is important to understand that you must eat within
one hour of waking up and stop eating 3 hours before bed
time. |
Why does this diet work?
Simply because you
eat less when you are not "hungry." When we are starved,
the body goes into panic mode, and when food finally shows up
in front of us, we end up eating way too much. Remember
that it can take up to 20 minutes for the brain to process
that you are full; by that time you may have already consumed
more than double the calories you actually need. When
you follow this diet, you are eating only small or so-called
"mini-meals." Some of the big fans of this eating are
Angelina Jolie,
Denise Richards,
Jennifer Lopez, Brooke Burke, and
personal trainer Gunnar Peterson.
What to watch out for?
Do not eat
more and more often. That will completely
defeat the purpose of this diet. You will still need to
keep track of your calories, which should be based on your
weight and lifestyle. Understand the value of the
breakfast being healthy and eaten early. And do not be
so rigid about the 3 hours. If you feel that your energy
level is low before that and you have a
craving for food, it is alright to eat. (Related:
