Abdominal massage for relief from heartburns
The technique perfected by Mayans
If you are already confused by
shiatsu, watsu, Swedish massage, and a whole lot of exotic terms that describe massages, add one more to it. It is called the Mayan abdominal massage and during recent past it has become quite popular among certain
enterprising people in the US.

Now massages have been used in almost all cultures for centuries. When I was growing up in India I remember that the solution to gastritis was not Tums or any of those millions of pills marketed on television for heartburn. Your grandma will
simply massage your tummy, sometimes using some herbs or spices.
The Mayans did something similar. The Latinos call a bloated stomach as “empacho” and this sort of massage gives lasting relief without the side effects of heartburn medication. It helps to improve digestion, correct digestion related problems, and to help the reproductive organs. |
In some Central American countries and Southern Mexico, traditionally this massage is used for women who have low uterus or dislocated uterus. It is believed that the uterus can move out of position and cause problems, among them painful periods, infertility, etc. For this purpose, the massage is traditionally done by a or midwife. Most commonly the massages are done by someone in the village in Latin America to cure digestion related problems. If someone feels bloated, has gas, suffers from abdominal pain, and has lost appetite, it is believed that the person should simply get an abdominal massage.

Like anything else in America,
massage therapists who have mastered this technique, now offer professional Mayan abdominal massages. It may be hard to find a therapist through the yellow pages or at a local
spa but if you can
look up
online, you maybe able to locate one. Our research shows that they are not yet available everywhere in the
US.
