I have dark spots on my face

How can I get a clear skin on my face again?

Summary:  Excessive exposure to sun without wearing any protection means that the skin can be damaged and result in dark spots.  While some of the damage is permanent, in some cases, simple skincare treatments can make the spots go away.  If the damage has occurred over a long period of time, only laser treatments and or chemical peels can make the spots disappear.
Face of a girl whose skin has been damaged by overexposure to sunStacy writes, "For years I have noticed that I have several dark spots on my face and I just accepted it as a fact of my life, but as I am about to get married, it is starting to bother me.  I typically hide it with a foundation and makeup, but when the makeup is gone, it is so visible that it is embarrassing.  I simply do not have the desire or the financial resources to go to a dermatologist and I am not a big fan of using prescription creams since I am skeptical of their side effects.  Still I would like to undo these dark spots so that my face looks clearer and preferably lighter.  What can I do?  Can you suggest any home remedies that do not require visits to skin specialists or use of drugs and chemicals?"
If you see some dark spots on your face, then, most likely they are from damage from the sun and the condition is called hyperpigmentation. The best thing to do is to avoid sunlight as much as possible. When you do go out, use an umbrella. In addition, you can go do any drugstore and buy a sunscreen, and apply it religiously each morning, even on cloudy days, particularly if you are going to be out in the open.  Hydroquinone cream can be effective in lightening up the spots.

In the meantime, just wash your face regularly before going to bed, eat healthy, drink plenty of water, and sleep well.
You have not written if the dark spots are only on the face or all over your body.

If they are all over the body, you must immediately see a dermatologist.  At home remedies might work for spots here and there, but if you have them all over, it might be signs of early stage skin cancer and only a full medical checkup can make sure that all is well with you.
