| My boyfriend gives me lovebites
This is worrying my mother
| Summary: Different
couples like to make love in their own unique ways and
while a love bite maybe intentional or accidental, it
can cause embarrassment and/or awkward moments.
The best thing to do is to hide them from others and if
you end up showing, then always have an explanation.

Cindy
writes, "My mom noticed some bruises my
boyfriend left along my jaw line. They're from
love bites, not
abusive, but now she thinks
there's something
wrong with me because every partner I have had
has left similar marks. She is very upset about
it and I don't know what to do. She thinks it's
abnormal but
it's just
how I like it in bed and how it's
given. I might get a little
rough in the bedroom
but nothing to worry about. Should I talk to her
about it or
just let her worry in private?"
Your
mother has reasons to worry for the right
reasons because there are a lot of
men who
physically abuse women and she wants to make
sure that you are not a
victim. In addition to
that being from an older generation she might
find it inappropriate for a
couple to engage in
such acts. The right thing to do is
to just reassure her that all is well and these
marks are not signs of violence. Tell her that
if you ever need help with an
abusive boyfriend
you will
reach out to her. Hopefully that will make her
worries go away. |
