Getting
hair color professionally can be very expensive.
Yes, you go to the
salon and come out looking nice and pretty and doing
it yourself at home is messy and it never looks the
same, but the fact is that it costs almost 10 times or
even more to get it done in a salon.

While no one will tell you this or might even imply that
salon products are of superior quality, there really is
no difference (I mean why would they make two different
types of products?) -- except for
fragrance -- between
home and professional hair coloring treatments, They
are identical. |
So how to approach DIY hair color?
- Do it only for covering up
the grays. Do not try anything fancy or
highlights.
- Choose a color closest to
your natural color. If you are a
brunette and trying to go blonde, then get a pro
to do it.
- If your
hair has had a treatment or is permed or
straightened then also you should not color your
hair at home.
- Get help of a friend
or family member because it is impossible to color
in the back of your head. If you must do it alone,
use mirrors on the opposite walls to see the back of
your head.
- Invest in tools. Do
not rely on what comes in the package. At any beauty
store you can buy a bowl and brush. Also use a comb
to spread the color.
- Finally, use
shampoos and
conditioners designed specially for
color treated hair. You will have less dryness
and color will last longer.
