Birth control pills clog arteries
Birth control pills have had health complications for a long time. Some of these pills have been so dangerous that the manufacturers are being sued. The Ortho Evra birth control patch has had huge problems.
Why would these drugs pose a problem?
Well, since these are hormones, they have a huge impact on how the body works and they do have serious side effects.
A study presented at the annual meeting of the American Heart Association finds that millions of women who who used these pills or contraceptives for a year or more are at increased risk of plaque buildup in the arteries. That means greater risk of cardiovascular diseases particularly if you also smoke. It is not definite if this risk is same for all women. If I were you, I would switch to condoms till they figure out if the pills are fully safe.
