My girlfriend is 20 years older than me
Rick writes, “I am 41 years old and I been seeing a lady for the past year now after we met through online dating. Believe it or not but she is 61 years old, and i enjoy being with her. We have a lot of fun together, but what bugs me is that since I don’t even look my age and when I’m with her, I feel embarrassed going out with her in public because people stare and whisper. I dare not say a word, I just grit my teeth before heading out some place with her and accept it. She is a great person and the sex is great. All I want to ask you is, if we love one another, which we do, is it normal to be seeing someone 20 years your senior? She keeps saying to me, “Age is just a number. If we love one another, then that is all that matters.” Is this really true in our society? Or have I made a big mistake in my life?”
Obviously it is more common than it was a few years ago. Ivana Trump just got married to a man who is so much younger than her. Her husband Rossano Rubicondi is 23 years younger than her, making her a cougar.
I am a strong believer in the philosophy that we have to live for ourselves rather than others. People will always find something to bitch about — oh his wife is too fat or skinny or dark or ugly or the nose is too big or whatever…you know what I mean.
As long as you are both happy, shouldn’t that be the only thing that matters? Once we start paying to attention to what others think there is no end to it and you will never be able to satisfy everyone every time.
