Lancaster county in Pennsylvania
Or should I say the Amish county? I have always been fascinated by the Amish people when I watched the movie “Witness” starring Harrison Ford. Since the movie did such a great job of giving us a peek into Amish life (without really involving any Amish people as actors), I decided to take a weekend trip.
Well, what a surprise it was. It was literally a trip into the past though driving in a automobile side-by-side with a horse-drawn buggy was somewhat surreal. While we stayed in a resort, all around us were farms, though a short drive away were shopping malls. So we drove around, checked out the farms, visited local stores, and did the usual stuff that tourists do by visiting some of the local towns. Take a look at this beautiful brownstone building. It is regular neighborhood in Lancaster county – laid back, friendly people, and just a great way to relax yourself if all you do is sit on a desk and stare at a computer.
