How can a foreigner become a movie actor in Japan?
Candy writes, “I read your very interesting article about how foreigners could become a star in Japan (with the right look..). In fact I love the country and would like to live over there, trying to become hired as a “star” (maybe film, because I can’t sing well). Would you have any names or addresses of film-companies etc. that I could contact for that purpose? What exactly are the steps I need to take in order to be promoted? I think my look is sufficient and appropriate for Japanese taste, but I am rather short (1.63m) and speak only English/French/German and a little Japanese! Thanks for any information you could give me concerning this project.”
Unfortunately, I do not have contact info for what you are looking for and if I were to help you, I will simply search on Google. I think you can start the search yourself based on your interests, also try to see if you know someone in Japan even if it is through MySpace or Facebook. There are many communities online of foreigners in Japan and you can try to join them and start asking around.
There is also another route: go to Japan as a language teacher, if possible, and then spend the spare time looking for a job as movie actor.
