Say goodbye to your land line

If you are like me, you probably can’t use your cell phone at home. I live in a lovely home in a somewhat remote part of town with tall trees all around me and just a few neighbors. So I can only use my mobile phone when I am outside and if people leave me messages on my mobile number, I have to retrieve them by calling from a land line. Quite clumsy and it is simply making it hard for me to go completely mobile.

The solution is to subscribe to a clever service from T-Mobile. If you signed up with Vonage and/or have a wireless networking at home, you are already familiar with the technology of Wifi networks. In simple terms, if you have a broadband connection at home, you can create your own wireless network by adding a small gadget and if you don’t already have one, TMobile will give you one (sometimes free). Then, you make your calls at home using your cell phone (these calls are free, of course) and when you are away from home you use the company’s network. Since the company also operates many hot-spots for Internet (e.g. in cafes, airports, etc. all over the world), you can make free phone calls from these places too. The net result: you can now say goodbye to your landline and can actually have phone that works even if you live in a forest.
