If there is one Hollywood filmmaker that deserves to be recognized, it is Quentin Tarantino. No wonder then that after receiving the Oscar, he is now honored by American Cinema Editors with the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year award.
He has worked as a writer, director, producer and actor. He burst on to the scene at the Sundance Film Festival in 1991 with RESERVOIR DOGS, which brought his talent to the attention of critics and filmgoers worldwide and racked up awards across the globe. His highly anticipated follow-up project was the award-winning PULP FICTION, which was nominated for seven Academy Awards. In 1997, Tarantino wrote and directed JACKIE BROWN starring Pam Grier, Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Forster, landing Grier and Jackson Golden Globe nominations and Forster an Oscar nomination. He wrote and directed KILL BILL VOL. 1 and KILL BILL VOL. 2 which were shot concurrently but released in 2003 and 2004 respectively and earned over $150 million each at the box office and starred an eclectic cast including Uma Thurman and David Carradine. Tarantino's inspired casting choices throughout his career earned him the Lifetime Achievement honor from the Casting Society of America in 2004.
Tarantino's writing credits include TRUE ROMANCE, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, JACKIE BROWN, KILL BILL VOL. 1, KILL BILL VOL. 2, GRINDHOUSE, as well as an episode of the TV series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. His collaborations with other filmmakers include sharing directorial credit with Robert Rodriguez on FOUR ROOMS and Special Guest Director credit with Robert Rodgriguez on SIN CITY.
