How to treat your ex?
No matter what leads to a breakup or a divorce, a couple should still not speak ill of each other. If the partner has cheated or abused you in anyway, chances are you are very mad and want to get your anger out, but by speaking negatively in public you are not only cheapening your ex, you are also creating a bad image of yours. Potential partners will be very careful about dating you because they will be afraid that if something goes wrong, you will do the same to them.
Kylie Minogue provides an excellent example of how you should treat your ex. When she broke up with her boyfriend Olivier Martinez and did not specify a clear reason for the split, the media assumed that it was because he cheated on her - his bad reputation as a flirt did not help either. However, since Kylie knew that they did not breakup because of his being unfaithful, she immediately came to his rescue. "As for the treatment Olivier has received of late, I can only reiterate that he simply does not deserve the kind of harassment or vitriol to which he has been subjected. For someone whom I have enormous love and respect, and communicate with, it is so grossly unfair: to demonize an honest man. I would ask of you, my fans, to show your support for both Olli and myself as a separation is never easy," she said.
Maybe her role model is Vince Vaughn, the ex of Jennifer Aniston. Not only did he praise her profusely at People's Choice Awards, he also attended a birthday party for her organized by mutual friend Courteney Cox.
