How to make my career more rewarding?

Do what you love, love what you do

Summary:  Below is the dilemma of a very successful woman who has a dream job but still finds that she is not happy with it because despite good money and having a meaningful job, her heart is not into it.

Doreen writes, "I am physician but spend most of my time doing medical research that would hopefully lead to safe drugs and other treatments for chronic illnesses. Just discovered that I can do most work, enough to excel but am looking for that one thing which I will devote every single waking hour on. Like when one is bitten by the golf bug, you know when you start hitting the driving range day in day out for that perfect shot. I need something new. I am going to volunteer two weeks at a wildlife sanctuary in southeast Asia. Not only it is where my mother is but where my heart used to be. What can I do to make my career more rewarding?"

Regarding your career, keep your mind open. I see that you are a geek like me (I have two degrees in engineering and one in business) but I chose to devote myself to writing about people's problems and other things in life that we all care about so much. It was a challenge explaining it to others in the beginning but now I just tell them that I do what I love and I don't care what I studied in college. So if being with Nature is your calling, forget about treating cancer.
