Ingredients
1 pound of natural Swiss cheese. Depending on the mix of the cheese, the flavor of the fondue melt will be different.
You may use:
1/2 pound gruyere cheese, cut in cubes
1/2 pound emmanthal cheese, cut in cubes
1 clove garlic (peeled)
1.5 cups of dry white wine (Which
wine should I buy?)
1 tablespoon of flour
1 tablespoon lemon juice
A pinch of grated nutmeg
Black pepper
Instructions
- Rub a heavy pan with the garlic clove. Heat wine to a simmer. Add the lemon juice.
- In a separate bowl, mix cheeses and flour.
- Add cheese to the wine mix. Stir with wooden spoon.
- Add nutmeg and pepper.
- Put on fondue pot.
Fondue garnishes
You may use any combination of the following:
French bread
Bread sticks
Tortilla chips
Vegetables: You may stir-fry or blanch zucchinis, mushrooms, peppers, raw celery, and baby carrots. Add any other vegetables that you may like.
Meats: You may use sausages, proscuito, stir-fry scallops, or any other cooked meat.
Sweet and sour: To add some sweet flavor, you may serve apple and pear pieces.
Decorate the fondue plate with the vegetables, meats and the sticks. Serves
6-8 people.
