Considering the fact that Japan is surrounded by sea in all directions, there are hundreds of Japanese dishes that are based on seafood. Naturally, shrimp is used in a wide variety of dishes. The meaning of the term 'stir-fried' in the world outside Japan is generally meant to denote a Chinese dish but the Japanese do mix shrimp with vegetables and create a variety of dishes. Soy sauce is generally added to enhance the flavor. Here is the recipe for a dish that you will certainly enjoy.

Ingredients

1 1/2 pound (approximately 700 gm) cleaned and de-veined shrimp 3 tablespoons of canola oil or other stir fried oil 2 cloves of garlic minced 2 tablespoons of peeled ginger root, chopped 1 cup sliced mushrooms 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame oil 1 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce 1/2 teaspoon of hot pepper flakes |
Heat the oil in a wok over medium-high heat until hot. Add the garlic and ginger and stir fry for about 30 seconds. Add the rest of the ingredients. Stir-fry until shrimps are pink and cooked thoroughly, about 4-5 minutes. Serve immediately.
This should provide 4 servings.
