Lemon
Lemon and honey are the traditional cures for the painful sore throat. It helps to kill the bacteria that cause the inflammation and to alleviate pain. Take a spoon of honey and add a spoon of lemon juice. Do the gargles three or four times a day.
You may also use honey only if you are allergic to lemon.
Ginger water
Grate about a teaspoon of fresh ginger and add one cup of hot water. Drink it as tea. It is also good for digestion and to eliminate toxins.

Chamomile tea
Do gargles with chamomile tea; it helps to reduce the inflammation on your throat.
Salt and water gargles
Add about one table spoon of salt to one cup of warm water and do gargles three or four times a day.
Salt, water and turmeric powder
Same as before but add a pinch of turmeric powder, mix well and do gargles twice a day.
Warm water gargles
Do gargles three times a day with warm water. Clean your mouth before doing the gargles.
Or mix one cup of warm water and 10 drops of tea tree essential oil. Do gargles three times a day.
