When my
Japanese friends
visit Los Angles,
Hollywood,
Beverly Hills, etc., they do not stay in Little
Tokyo hotels (Nikko is apparently very popular) because
it is cheap or hotels are better or the staff
speaks Japanese; they do so because of all the
awesome
Japanese restaurants within waking distance.
So when I headed to
LA for my vacation, while I stayed at the Pacific
Palms golf resort in City of Industry, I went to Little
Tokyo several times to eat. In one of those
adventures, we ended up at Koshiji, which comes as close
to a
yakitori place in Tokyo as it can be. The
staff is Japanese
and so are almost 90% of the diners. You order
small dishes of
grilled meats and vegetables and down it with
chilled Japanese beer (I am partial to Sapporo).
Be adventurous and try vegetables that you have never
heard of. |
