How to lose weight?
Diet, exercising, and discipline are key to losing weight and keeping it off

Do we have a obesity problem in America?
I like to believe my own eyes. No matter where I go in the country, I see obese people. And I see them in all age brackets, all races, and even all income brackets. When I get to sit in business class sometimes with the movers and shakers, I see overweight people all around me. And remember that these are people who are literally running this country. I have seen out of shape CEOs, senators, congressmen and congresswomen, celebrities, and the list goes on and on. Looks like no one has been spared.  (Related links:  Makeovers for women and Makeovers for men)

And if you would rather believe hard numbers, here is some data from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), our very own keeper of statistics on health of Americans:  (Related article:  Lose weight one ounce at a time)

While men have always had a bigger weight problem than women (up to 1994, the difference in percentages of overweight men and women was 10% or more), it seems that either women are catching up with men or men have slowed down: the difference now is only 5% or so.  (Related article:  Lose weight the easy way)

Recently, we have started to hear that obesity is competing with smoking as the number one cause of preventable death. This is simply unacceptable. We are literally eating our way to death when we know by eating less we could enjoy better health, quality of life, save money on all the extra food that we eat and then what we pay to doctors to cure all the nasty diseases. (Interesting article:  Losing weight can be easy if you start taking care of the small things)
