Halloween with kids
Last year, there were few things cuter than my 13 month old dressed up as a duck for Halloween.
And as October 31st approached this year we had several discussions on what our little 2 year old should be for Halloween.
Then, we rented the Baby Einstein’s Halloween DVD for her from Netflix and realized, it probably wasn’t the best idea to go out.
During parts of the show, she stood up and hid behind us. Barely peeking out to watch the show and then we realized, she was scared of Little Einsteins And that, made up our mind.
There was no way that I was going to take her out to the world of strange houses and crazy costumes when she couldn’t handle her DVD. Thus, we stayed in.
We watched a new Baby Einstein DVD, played with her dogs, and had a tea party with her dishes set. It was quiet.
Joanne who was supposed to have the night off went to work. There was no sense of her being off for us to do nothing when she could get the overtime. And from reports this morning, that was a good idea.
With luck, next year we can talk her though what’s pretend and how not to be scared. Maybe then we’ll get dressed up and head to one of the “safe” trick-or-treat nights. Perhaps even a “Truck or Treat” with metro police officers at the Hard Rock.
We’ll see.
