What greeting is appropriate for a 16 year old girl on her birthday?
Recently we were invited to the birthday party of a one-year old girl, whose parents requested that in lieu of gifts we write a letter to her that will be opened on her sixteenth birthday. This is what we wrote:
Dear….
Congratulations!!! We are so happy you are now 16, gorgeous, sweet 16. We hope you will have a wonderful day, surrounded by love and excitement.
We can imagine you are beautiful and charming like your mom and dad. You were a pretty baby at this time this letter was written and we were 16 years younger. What a great year that was.
We have been thinking what to write, what to tell to an intelligent 16-year-old girl in the future. So here are some lessons that we have learned in our lives and would like to share with you:
- Always be positive – it does wonders
- Treasure people you love and give your love back to them
- Do no make assumptions, keep your heart and mind open
- Learn to forgive
- Be thankful for everything; always live in gratitude
- Dream big; anything is possible
Enjoy this birthday and all birthdays after this, but truly treasure this one. Someone said that at 16 we are divine, but we do not know it, I hope you know it and believe it, you are divine, beautiful, precious, lovely and a wonderful child.
