Mommy blogger
This weekend while attending a conference, I met up with several bloggers. One blogger I spoke to explained to me what her blog was about and expressed that because she was a “mommy blogger” her blog was worth less.
She felt as though there was a stigma in the blogging community that being a Mom who blogs about her daily life and her children made her significantly less important than others didn’t blog about their life as parents.
I found this interesting because for me the majority of what I read online with blogs are about nothing really. They are Mommy bloggers, photo bloggers, and humorous blogs. And because of the wide rang of blogs out there I certainly don’t feel as though one type of niche blogger is more significant or more important than others.
Do others always want to read a Mommy blog?
Probably not but that’s their choice. Sure we talk about our children but I think actually reading these “mom blogs” you’ll find more insightful advice for the real world than most other blogs.
Maybe I put a lot of rambling nonsense here but so what? I have visitors and comments which must mean something, right?
Hearing this woman speak about her own personal writings as though they were nothing really gave me an additional boost to see what I want my blogs to be and where they can go.
Everything has a different amount of potential and when starting a blog, particularly this one, I neglected to do the most important thing about creating a blog.
I never thought about my demographic, what I’d be writing about and who might be interested. The bottom line I suppose is what I want from this blog in particular and with this post I suppose I suggested it.
While my life may sometimes be comical, it’s also a little boring with not always a lot to write about. But as a Mom finding her way with balance there may be more to this.
So, in the coming weeks expect that I will begin to expand the topics available here. While my life will always be incorporated to keep my family and friends up-to-date on the ever growing toddler in my home, I’m going to be doing significantly more posting on what I find to be useful information for Moms, in regards to raising their children and taking care of their hope.
