How to celebrate a birthday?
It’s my great pleasure that each year when Joanne’s birthday rolls around that I get to tease her about her age. Being that I’m 7 years younger, I have great leverage for “old” jokes, pokes, and jabs.
This year wasn’t going to be any different.
Yesterday was Joanne’s birthday, she turned 34. Planning her birthday, she had just one request: funfetti cake. Homemade, yummy, and simple. No problem with me!
Doug and Tish babysat Zadey yesterday evening so that Joanne and I could actually have dinner alone. A refreshing change to sit at a restaurant and actually be able to have a conversation, sit for as long as we wanted, and share a meal.
When we got home, I didn’t hesitate to place 34 candles on her cake, sing “Happy Birthday” and proceed to watch as Zadey and Joanne blew out the candles.
I think it was a great day for her, at least I hope it was.
