| As many of our readers have known, Miki Ariyama has been featured on our website many times and we had interviewed her as well
Miki's previous interview). Since the publication of her interview and review of her music album
(click here to read the album
review), she has made tremendous progress in her modeling, television, and music
career. So we sat down with her recently to talk about her successes and her secrets to success. For those of
you who often ask us how to go about being a model,
our advice is simple: work with a modeling agency
(e.g. Casting-Call), and of course, you will need to stay in
shape, be committed, never give up, and keep smiling.

MYNIPPON: Well, congratulations on your success which has been truly
remarkable. Why don't you tell our readers about some of your major
accomplishments since we last spoke?
Miki: I've been working on finishing my Japanese Spoken Word Album "Poetic Translation". It been really fun but I would have to admit that it's a lot of work. Just thinking about the songs, doing my translation, and recording one verse like 50 times just to find the right one. Also look for me on a couple of side projects. Realithamann "Funk Blues Album", Charles Randolph "Side View Music", The Incredibles Album "That's Incredible Vol. 1". |
I have at least 3 photo
shoots a week: I'm really concentrating on the quality of the images, making sure that they represent me right. Everything that I do now has a purpose, I no longer
just do random
photo shoots.
As for Shuji, I've done a couple of albums cover for a number of artist. Still painting and waiting for my
gallery showing which will take place at the same time of my album release party.
My Television show which, I'm writing and taping every week is going very well. I can't wait until
we get national distribution for it.MYNIPPON: Your story is truly inspiring because what we have seen is a person who
is diligently working her way up. What are some of the secrets of your success as an artist and model?
Miki: What you really need is a team of people behind you that are not
YES MEN. My managers, lawyers,
photographer, website designer and
producer tells me like it is, even if it may hurt my feelings. I understand that it's for my benefit, plus, that is the difference between being professional and amateur.
I've learned to trust their advice but I'm still head strong and will not do anything that I don't want to do. The thing is
my team of people are all like-minded, flexible people. So if I don't agree with something
usually they are thinking the same way.
MYNIPPON: As you very well know that
modeling is not an easy career to
pursue. With so many demands on a model these days, it can be very stressful.
How do you manage to maintain your cool while juggling all these responsibilities?
Miki: After a long shoot I love to take a bubble
bath, then a hot shower, and have someone give me a full body
massage. I go to the park and feed the ducks, sit on the couch in nothing but a t-shirt and watch movies.
Video games is a big
stress relief for me,
especially the fighting ones, which allow me to let out my aggressions (Tekken anyone?). I also
lie down by the poolside and soak in the
sun, but not too much.
MYNIPPON: If you recall when we spoke to you last time, you gave
tips on beauty and
style to our female readers. Well, what we are noticing from your latest photos is that
your new style is very different than just a few years ago. So what are your tips for
women now? (Model
beauty secrets)
Miki: First I look at what everyone is wearing and then just wear it a little different. I go to
the store and try on different types of clothes, even if I don't like the way they look because
they may look better on then off. You should try to dress like you
feel. If you want to feel hot, then dress
hot. If you want to feel rugged, then dress rugged. Remember, what you feel
like on the inside is reflected outside. "Personality makes the style, style does make
the personality".
