My life as a flight attendant
Tips from a woman on dealing with men who goes on a quest to find a man of her dreams after she is 30

By Nancy Ryder

I am now 35 years old now and live in Michigan – in a small town with just 600 inhabitants, which most young women of my age do not even visit. While it is a good one-hour drive to the nearest airport in Saginaw, I don’t mind it because I can still live among trees.

It is old-fashioned and traditional and there is very little for young women of today’s generation to do there. I prefer it for the very simple reason that it reminds me of my childhood home. I feel more comfortable being in an area where I can see houses and people that are not foreign to me.

For 11 years now, I have been working as a flight attendant. I like my job though; I never have to stay in one place for too long – something that I never liked. So it is always a pleasant change for me to return to my quiet home and just be by myself for a couple of days before the next trip.

Photo of an attractive flight attendantFor those of you who do not know much about flight attendants, let me tell you this – my job is a tough one. Airlines want us to do so much work but do not want to pay us. The passengers are still getting used to the idea that a flight attendant is not a waitress or a maid (those days are long gone with $49 tickets). However, each flight is different and since I work in business class, I get to deal with relatively less obnoxious passengers. By the end of the flight, though, I am so tired and mad that I could eat the obnoxious passengers for dinner. (Related article:  How to buy private jets?)

Anyway, I am not so nasty as you might think. I actually like to keep a relatively positive outlook on life, since I believe that life is meant for fun and making everyone else around you happy. Since this quality is appreciated in my job (and was probably a reason I was hired), dozens of passengers give me their cards and tell me what a good time they had on the flight. Men, who are old enough to be my father, propose weekends in Hawaii with me. Surprisingly, even women are nice to me and appear to fall in love with me. They ask me the secrets of my beauty. How do I manage to stay so slim? Why does my skin look so fresh? Why is my hair silky? Where do I shop?
