Is Clean Coal really clean?
When the term “clean coal” is used, one might start thinking that it is something clean like solar or air energy. Nothing could be farther from the truth because clean coal is merely a buzzword designed to make it appear as if coal is the new alternative fuel. If enough people will get convinced then they coal companies can manipulate public opinion and stop them from regulating their pollution.
Yes, it is a fact that clean coal causes less pollution than regular coal, processed according to centuries old technology, but it is still coal, one of the worst fossil fuels, insofar as the impact on environment is concerned. Yes, there is a lot of television advertising about clean coal and how it is important for energy, jobs, and America’s future, but we all need to understand that clean coal is not the alternative to investing in solar and wind energy.
