As you may have read, recently a Japanese housewife has been arrested for killing her husband’s avatar in the popular online game “Maple Story.”  This woman from Sapporo got very angry after she discovered that her husband had divorce her in the virtual world.

The lady accessed her husband computer without his permission and killed the character in the game.  This does not seem like a big deal, but accessing another person computer without permission and illegally manipulating data is a crime in Japan as it is in most countries.  The poor lady is now in jail (real jail) although she has not yet been formally charged.   If convicted she could face a prison term of up to five years or a fine up to $5,000.

According to the AP “The woman used login information she got from the 33-year-old office worker when their characters were happily married, and killed the character. The man complained to police when he discovered that his beloved online avatar was dead.”

Good luck to the lady and I hope she and her husband go to therapy. Maple Story looks like a kid game for most adults in other countries, I like the graphics, What do you think?
