The Tokyo Girls Collection is a very unique fashion even in Tokyo.  I think it is brilliant, because the attendees can buy the whole outfit as the one presented in the runway.  This year the show attracted about 22,700 young women interested in fashion.

Fashionistas attend the even where they can see various fashion shows, listen to music, shop and have a great girls activity with friends.

As I have told you before in the Japanese magazines models are permanent employees, the same models appear in every issue and the fashion in ready to wear.  These magazines’ models are the models of the Tokyo Girls Collection, almost all the magazines participate in the show.  It is great for the attendees to see in person the models they see month after month in their favorite magazines.

The magazines put together some outfits and model them during the show.  The clothes come from stores or manufactures that take part in the show.  The attendees can buy the clothes in show’s retail pavilion, online or in the participating shops.

I think it is pretty cool to see professionally put together clothes being model for you, as in old times it was for rich ladies.

The theme this year was eco living and the organizers promoted the use of reusable bags over plastic bags. Uniqlo did something clever, they advertised that the attendees could bring clothes they want to disposed to the show and bring it to the Uniqlo recycling booth for donation.  Considering that most of my friends in Japan just put the unwanted clothes in the garbage, because it is difficult to donate it, this was a useful thing.  I wish there will be more of this in Japan where women disposed clothes often and just throw them in the garbage.

The show is year included more high-end clothes than other years.  I hope it does not become only for expensive clothes in the years to come.
