The geisha facial treatment

October 7th, 2008 by admin

A few months ago something called the Geisha Facial popped up in the news.  The geisha facial is a facial treatment using “uguiso no fun.”  I first hear that spas in London were using this ingredient in the facials.

Uguiso no fun supposedly has been used by geishas and kabuki performers for long time in Japan.  Uguiso no fun is not other than powdered nightingale droppings.  The ingredient is supposed to help the skin look brighter and softer.

In New York the prestigious Shizuka Spa created the Geisha Facial using the poop ingredient in a sanitized version.  The treatment cost $180 and it is supposed to soften, brighten and nourish the skin.

Exotic treatments in spas are common; people like to try new “promising” ingredients.  I have worked in spas and personally I prefer the proven ingredients, but kudos to Shizuka for creating a very Japanese treatment.  Shizuka is also the name of the spa owner master esthetician Shizuka Bernstein.  Shizuka also has created a cosmetic line that is being sold in the USA and in Japan.

If you want to try the dropping, but cannot go to Shizuka NY there are some products that have this ingredient such as Chidoriya World Japanese Nightingale Droppings for about $18.00 you can google the name to go to the website.
