If you enjoyed watching Babel (starring Rinko Kikuchi and Brad Pitt) then you would see the similarities in this movie. A girl is found dead but lives of several other people are connected to her and none of them seem to realize this. The movie has an excellent cast that includes Toni Collette, Josh Brolin, James Franco, Brittany Murphy, and Kerry Washington.
Krista Kutcher ran off from home as a teen to Hollywood and not being able to realize her dream of being an actress ends up as a prostitute until she is killed by Carl, a man who has a terrible marriage to Ruth (who decides to move on after she finds out). When the dead body is discovered by Arden, she decides to break away from her abusive mother and leaves home to find freedom. Leah is a forensics student who had a missing sister but her mother is obsessed with finding her and never giving up hope. Seeing the dead body and convincing herself that she is her missing sister allows her to break from the burden of not finding what happened to her sister. Melora is the mother of the dead girl who finds out how her daughter was abused by her step dad and decides to raise her granddaughter.
Strongly recommended for fans of indie movies.
