Katsuya Glendale review

My wife and I had heard a lot about Katsuya and when we went to shop at The Americana at Brand mall in Glendale, it was perfect to eat lunch there.  After all, during our previous trip there, we had enjoyed an awesome meal at Frida Mexican Cuisine (a restaurant owned by Salma Hayek that supposedly brings recipes from her time in Mexico).

What strikes you most about Katsuya is the architecture designed by Philippe Starck.  It has a contemporary design but still draws heavily from Japanese minimalism.  While the Dragon Lounge is open only in the evenings, but going to the restroom is a good excuse to see it if you are there at lunch time.  The food is simple with very subtle flavors.  We both had salad for our multiple course lunch and chose shrimp kakiage with wasabi mashed potatoes and sansho salmon also with potatoes.  Everything was delicious.  Strongly recommended.
