If I had known anything about the movie before watching, I probably would not have watched it because of its overt religious nature, considering that I am an atheist. As they say, you cannot judge a book by its cover, and despite the fact that this movie might generate very religious emotions among the believers, I saw it merely as entertainment. The movie would have been the same even if Eli (Denzel Washington) was making the hazardous journey because he had the recipe for a medicine or the secret code to a hidden treasure.
While no major details are given in the film, there was an apocalyptic event that wipes out most civilization, and like in a manga, one very brave man, Eli, has the only copy of the Bible in his possession that he wants to deliver it to a group of survivors who have access to a printing press that can print the holy book. During his journey, he has to fight with a crazy man who controls a small town but needs a book to brainwash people into submission to further his agenda of expansion.
Recommended only if you like movies with comic like storyboards and enjoy themes like Rapture and end of the world conspiracy theories.
