Since Lorena and I are considering a vacation in Hawaii in the near future, and because I always research about the place we are visiting, I clicked on Princess Kaiulani film hoping to learn something. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. This is not the story of the real Princess Ka?iulani, the last heir to the throne in the Kingdom of Hawaii. Indeed, one can learn some details about how Hawaii came to be a part of the United States, a lot of the personal life of the princess appears to be fiction or only somewhat inspired by the events in her life.
Q’orianka Kilcher, whom I recall from Pocahontas, has done a reasonable job but does not get a lot of support from other actors. It is a mediocre movie at best, to put it politely. The only thing it did for me to motivate me to get serious about learning the history of Hawaii, and I spent a few hours researching online. Not recommended.
