The Center Of The World movie review

Picture of Mally Parket in stiletto with lollipopThis is a film about geeks who are so absorbed in their world of video games, computers, gadgets, and making money that they cannot even get a girlfriend despite the wealth they accumulate from IPO’s.  Richard Longman (Peter Sarsgaard) is one of those millionaires who are lonely and do not even know how to have fun.  Due to their pathetic social skills, they just end up in nightclubs where they pay for company of exotic dancers.

During his frequent visits to the club, he befriends a dancer (Molly Parker as Florence), and offers her $10,000 to spend a weekend with her in Las Vegas.  Even though she agreed to go with too many restrictions (like no sex), since he is so lonely that he confesses to her that he has fallen in love with her.  He is heartbroken to hear her say that she was just acting so that he could have a good time as a client for all the money he spent on her.

It is not a mainstream movie even though it was entered at Cannes, but if you do watch it, you might get a glimpse into the lives of wealthy but lonely men, and how they get addicted to paying for pleasure.
