writes, "I am doing most everything I enjoy in life,
like
theatre,
boxing, and
ballroom dancing. My husband and I do talk about
moving abroad, as UK has the most abysmal
winter weather. It is something we have a problem
with as he will never move to a
tropical
location, and I under-estimated how seasonally
depressed I get around
winter.
What can we do to come up with a compromise solution so
that we can
live
happily together?"
I
know exactly how you feel in
winter.
In the
Northeast US where I live, it is
winter like weather from September to April and it
can get
chilly even in the middle of summer. There is tons
of snow to
clear in winter and there are days that you simply
don't see the
sun. The
skin gets very dry during winter and my wife does
not like the cold, dry weather because her allergies
bother her a lot.
But
we both know that except for a few places, there is no
such thing as
perfect weather. I don't like really
hot weather either, so for me the solution has been
to not stay at home for extended periods of time. I have
seen that even a
weekend trip to
some place warm in the middle of winter does a lot
of good. I think you and your husband can try to
escape the winter a few times each year and then it
might not seem so bad. |
