Avandia side effect heart failure and death
Previously I reported that Avandia is responsible for liver failure and deaths. Now come even more bad news about the drug that seniors with diabetes are more likely to develop heart failure and die.
It is already known that Avandia hinders bone formation. Due to concerns about its safety Avandia has a black box warning but the FDA has refused to recall Avandia.
Public Citizen has been pleading with FDA to ban Avandia.

Avandia causes liver failure deaths
Despite numerous complaints about Avandia being a dangerous drug, nothing much has happened. Public Citizen has filed another petition asking the FDA to ban the deadly drug.
Only if GlaxoSmithKline would care. "We do not believe there is a connection between liver toxicity and this medicine," the company said.
A review of FDA data shows as many 14 cases of severe drug-induced liver failure, including 12 deaths. The drug is already known to cause heart failure, fractures and vision loss.

Despite all the widely known problems. Avandia has not been recalled yet, even though Avandia has a black box warning. Why? The FDA is reluctant to act and the manufacturer does not care if it is hurting patients. It probably looks at Merck and says that if they could get away with just a few billion dollars despite deaths of 60,000 Americans, it is not very risky to keep selling killer drugs.
According to latest research in California and published in Nature Medicine journal, Avandia may increase the risk of brittle bone disease. This drug has now been found to interfere with new bone formation.
In other words, if you are taking Avandia, you need to act by speaking to your doctor.

Looks as if there no recall of Avandia despite its serious side effects. GlaxoSmithKline, like any other drug company, continues to deny that the drug is dangerous, but was forced to add a black box warning by the FDA. Generally, a black box warning means that you should not take this drug unless you have no other option. It is extremely important not to take this drug if you suffer from diabetes but also have heart diseases or are at high risk of suffering a heart attack. You must also insist that your doctor monitor you more carefully for cardiovascular complications.
If you or a family member have had any personal injuries as a result of taking rosiglitazone, you might also want to speak to an attorney to find out if you have a legal case against the drugmaker and demand compensation.
