Have you ever walked into a home and
instantly felt comfortable and relaxed or uncomfortable
for no apparent reason? An explanation for these positive
or negative feelings in different environments may be
found in the principles of Feng Shui. Feng Shui relates to
arrangement of your surroundings to enhance your life. Our
environment affects us on a subconscious level, and we
sometimes don’t realize how much it may be negatively
influencing our lives. Once we become aware of how our
environment affects us, we can empower it. By placing
positive images and objects in our environment, we are
activating mental energies that create positive thoughts.
Since every object in our surroundings is alive with our
memories and associations, we must remove anything that
creates negative thoughts or energy.

A stagnant
relationship can be a sign of a stagnant bedroom. You can
actually re-invigorate your relationship simply by
redecorating or re-arranging your bedroom. If you find
yourself having to leave home to become romantically
inspired, try
enhancing the romance in your life at home
by following simple guidelines in the paragraphs below:
Your bedroom
It should be your sanctuary and used only for its intended
purpose -- a retreat for rest and romance where you can
escape from the stress of your day. It is not meant to be
an office or a gym. The best location for the master
bedroom is in the back of the house away from street
noise. |
Remove any distractions. Exercise equipment,
computers,
and
televisions do not belong in the bedroom. These
objects are energetically calling out for you to use them.
They are distractions to romance and they take away from
the room's restful qualities. The only thing you should be
turning on in your bedroom is your partner!
Bedroom
decoration
Be sure to decorate it in a gender-neutral fashion
using warm flesh-toned colors. Ladies, men don’t get
excited about jumping into a bed full of frilly
pillows and dolls. And men, don’t hang that stuffed
marlin from your fishing trip to Cabo in the
bedroom. Seriously, I have seen this! Similarly, it
is important to remove photos of people other than
your romantic partner. Are there photographs of your
children, your parents, friends, or others in your
bedroom? You will subconsciously feel these people
are “watching” what is going on in the room. Yikes!
If you or your partner like to read in bed, replace
your light bulbs with low wattage pink bulbs to
remove that temptation and you’ll also be creating a
warm, cozy atmosphere.
Take a look at the artwork in your bedroom. Does it
inspire passion and love? As an extreme example,
those pictures of
dogs playing poker is not
romantic. The bedroom is the place to display
sensual art such as pictures or statuary of couples
kissing or holding hands. Consider the other objects
in your room and, wherever possible, use pairs. Two
pillows, two candles or two matching prints
symbolize a couple.
Let go of everything possessing the lingering energy
of past relationships. During a consultation for a
couple whose relationship was struggling, I
discovered the wedding dress from the woman’s first
marriage hanging among her husband’s clothes. Talk
about a romance killer! Imagine how he felt every
day when he went to the closet to get dressed.
Remove everything from your previous love life from
your bedroom.
Replace your bed or your
mattress or,
at the very least, invest in new,
luxurious bed
linens that encourage sensuality.
The bed
When
it comes to your bed, the most important thing is
that you position it so that you are able to see the
door to the room while lying down. This is referred
to as the “power position.” That way you won’t be
startled if you hear the door opening behind you. If
you have your back to the door, it
creates a subconscious feeling of vulnerability.
Visually indicate equality by making sure that your
bed is accessible from both sides and that you have
equal-sized
bedside tables. And, don’t forget privacy.
Having a lock on the bedroom door will also erase
feelings of vulnerability and you won’t have any
uninvited visitors. (Related:

As
you can see, Feng Shui is a lot about common sense
and logic. When creating your own personal paradise,
be aware of the messages that each and every item
you place in your bedroom is sending to both you and
your partner. By employing these tips you will
create positive energy in your bedroom and give your
room a new identity that supports the romance in
your life.
