Andrea
writes, "When I first
met
my husband, I didn't realize that he was
twenty
years older than myself. If I had known this I would
have never accepted his
invitation to date or otherwise.
Age is only a number to my husband and we are
fantastic together as my
being patient, loving and
understanding, allowing him
to be
the man in our family. Why is it that when a
man marries a woman 20 years younger that he is
sometimes admired and respected? We have been married
eighteen years and each day is another miracle."
I am so happy for you that you have
found happiness with your husband and realized that
age is truly a number. I know a lot of
idiots in
their 60s and brilliant 20-year old men with the
maturity of
middle-aged men.
Unfortunately as you are learning, that is not how
everyone else feels. And I am expecting that men are the
ones who admire him more than women. As far as
men
are concerned, younger is generally better for them.
I am told by some of my scientist friends that this goes
back to our origins when the main job of men was to
impregnate women so that more
babies
could be born -- and that is why the
younger women with
higher fertility were more desirable. That is why
other men are simply jealous of your husband that he has
a much
younger wife. |
