Spas
for men
Why
visit a spa and how to make the best of it?
While
I have never been shy about visiting a spa (including
day
spas or
medi spa
or spa resorts or also what are sometimes
interestingly enough called destination
spas), but it does
get uncomfortable sometimes when there are 9 women for each
man (that's why it might make sense to go with a woman - as
Freddie Prinze Jr. does). Most high-end spas now, therefore, have separate lounges but
some mid-range ones don't. That
is why the idea of spas for men is long overdue. Personal grooming is somewhat of a 'personal' thing and it is
great if there are fewer or even no women around. Mind
you, I have no problem with my hairdresser or manicurist being
a female (in fact I can't stand a man doing that for me) and I
always insist on a woman giving me a
massage, it is nice when
you are in a spa that you don't feel as if you have ended up
in the ladies locker
room.

Why visit a spa?
- Whether we like it or not we get older
every moment. While there is no way to stop
aging,
you can delay it by eating
healthy, staying away from
poisonous substances (I mean smoking, drugs, excessive
consumption of alcohol, fatty foods, etc.), exercising
regularly, and taking care of your
skin (you look old when your skin looks
old). According to statistics by Allure, one out
of three visitors to a spa is now a man.
- While you may think of yourself as a
clean person clearly committed to maintaining personal
hygiene, it is not enough. I compare it to visiting
a dentist. No matter
how good care you take of your
teeth, only a visit to the dentist completes the process.

How to find a spa that is right for you?
- There are some spas that are targeted at
men only or have very well designed systems in place for
their male clients. Some spas that we like are Carmichael Inn and Spa,
Nickel for Men, JOQ Day Spa, Grooming Lounge, American Male
Salons, and Bodé Spa.
- Unless you are taking a spa vacation, you
want to look for a spa in your town. A simple search
should do the job. (Related:

- Unless the website of the spa clearly
indicates that it is a spa for men, you must first call to
find out what kind of services they have for men.
Many spas have designed their services for women only and
offer the same for men if they have male clients. If
you have a choice, you do not want to go to these spas.
