What
can we learn from metrosexual men?
How
to take care of our bodies
By Pierre
Coda
I
am often asked by women from all over the world about what they
can do to make the men in their lives clean up their
look.
As casual look became more common during the late 80s and
early 90s, the dot-com generation carried it too far.
It became perfectly acceptable to show up in public
unshaven, or not change clothes for one week, or walk into a
fine restaurant wearing
flip-flops, or just not care
about anything. The
same attitude prevailed at home or in the company of women.
No wonder the sloppy look of men has become the number
one reason why women do not like these men.
A
metrosexual is defined by a clean image.
Now do not confuse this with a flashy image, which is not
for everyone. We
are just talking about basic hygiene and personal
care.
I am not a big fan of branded products or expensive
clothes. Most women
would not know the difference if you looked sloppy while wearing
a $500 pair of jeans that you have not washed for last 3 years.

Based
on input from my women friends and my research, here is what you
need to do if you want to project an image that will draw you to
women:
Hairstyle
Have
a hairstyle. It
does not matter whether you like it long or short or use some
other
outrageous hairstyle, but you need to be consistent.
So get a hair cut at a frequency determined by your
style. In addition
to that, if you use hair
color or any other treatment, stick to the
frequency that works for you.
Other than that there is not much to be done.
Regular shampooing and conditioning is all that you need.
If you fix your hair once before leaving your home, you
will be just fine though it is not a bad idea to bring a
pocket comb if
your hair is rather long or if you ride a bike.

Shaving
For
young men, I suggest a shave once a day.
For men older than 30 or so (this age may vary by race -
the test is to feel yourself to see how much hair growth you
have after 8 hours of a shave), I suggest twice a day.
On a weekly basis, I suggest taking care of unwanted hair
in and around the ears/nostrils/eyebrows, etc. with a nose
hair trimmer.
Body
hair
Regarding
hair on chest and the back, I have been told that women have
very personal preferences.
Some women adore men with hairy bodies while others do
not. What I do want
to point out is that you need to clean your armpits well on a
regular basis - a complaint that I have heard from dozens of
women. A hairy
armpit smells bad, attracts bacteria and lice (which can be
easily passed on to others) and hair can poke through a shirt.
It is very important to clean this area during showers.
Nail/hands/feet
care
Now
you do not have to get manicures or pedicures as frequently as
women do but taking care of nails is absolutely critical.
At least once a week you must cut your nails with a
high-quality nail cutter and smooth out any sharp edges.
Just invest in a good nail
care kit and you will set for a long time or you can visit a
nail
salon. If you have
callus on your feet or very
dry
soles, there are some simple treatments available or you can
see a podiatrist.

Facials
Many
of my clients prefer to go for facials once a
month, but you can do
a facial at home too - you might also try a
mini
facial more often. It helps them get rid of dead cells on the face.
As you shave, a lot of dead cells are gone but they
remain on parts of the face that is not shaved.
This produces a strange situation in which the shaved and
the unshaved areas look very different.
A facial followed by a moisturizer treatment makes the
complete face look more uniform.
Protection
against sun
Remember
sun block is not just for the beach or for women. If you spend a great deal of time outdoors, you must use a
sunblock either as a standalone cream or as part of your face
cream.
Lip
care
Always
carry a lip cream with you.
Even if your lips are not chopped it is a good idea to
provide some protection at least after every meal.
During
winter months (and depending on where you live) you might want to use a lip cream more frequently.

Body
care
Again,
body lotion is not just for women.
Apply body lotion on your whole body after you shower.
Stay away from cheap soaps that dry your
skin.
Every time you wash your hands with soap, rub some more
body lotion. If the
air is particularly dry, cover your skin.
To maintain the moisture balance in the body, drink
plenty of water.
Oral
care
Oral
health is key to making a favorable impression (apart from
ensuring your overall health).
Brush your teeth after every meal and use a mouthwash.
If you eat foods containing strong flavors (e.g. garlic),
you need extra care. Make
sure that you do not get constipated.
Take action if you are constipated because in no time
your breath will become bad and turn people off.
If you see any signs of bad
breath, maintain your
distance and refrain from kissing.
A special word of caution to smokers: you can turn off women who
do not smoke but if you still wish to show the other good things
that you have, brush your teeth, or at least, use a mouth
freshener. Also always ask if you absolutely have to smoke
in front of a non-smoker. (Related article: Teeth

I
cannot emphasize enough the importance of a clean
look every single day not only when you are out but also when
you are at home. It
will not only make you feel good about yourself but you will
project a happier, fresher image in front of others, making you
more attractive.Related: How
